The Inspiring Journey of Terry Fox

Terry Fox was born on July 28, 1958, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He grew up in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Terry Fox lost his right leg to cancer at the age of 18. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, which led to the amputation of his leg in 1977.

Terry Fox embarked on his Marathon of Hope on April 12, 1980, with the goal of running across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish his run as he was forced to stop near Thunder Bay, Ontario, on September 1, 1980, due to the spread of cancer to his lungs.

Terry Fox ran a total of 5,373 kilometers (3,339 miles) during his Marathon of Hope before he had to end his journey. His determination and courage inspired millions of people around the world.

If Terry Fox were still alive today, he would be 63 years old. Despite his short life, his legacy continues to inspire generations to continue his mission of raising funds for cancer research through events like the annual Terry Fox Run.
